A rice cooker cooks a cup of white or brown rice to perfection, without being either too firm or too soft, and never sticking to the bottom or the sides of the pot. A lot people like rice cookers because they don’t want to watch the pot while the rice is cooking so you can concentrate on other cooking duties and don’t have to check every five or ten minutes. Simply measure in the correct quantities of rice and water and turn on its very simple to use. As long as you follow the instruction manual, the rice will be done perfect and fluffy every time, without having to worry about keeping the water at the right temperature or the water boiling over. A rice cooker is convenient. You can turn it on when you are on your way out the local grocery store or work or fetching the kids from school and have rice ready for you when you return. Because the rice cooker times itself with a sophisticated built in timer, you don’t need to be home to turn off the cooker or ensure that it hasn’t boiled over. For those that previously used boil-in-the-bag rice or other types of “easy rice,” there is the cost saving of using bulk rice. If you are cooking a meal with many dishes, a rice cooker will free up space on your stovetop and in your whole kitchen to cook an additional dish.
